Winchester course flat, tarmac & grass but very sticky mud (better with trail shoes). Eastleigh course not as muddy as reported - didn't really need speedx shoes. Still on dodgy-knee comeback, not really fit enough, slowed on each lap. Stop for coffee at Cafe Nero in Romsey (nowhere else open). |

Still being cautious on knee, still taped. Walked up main hill. Short lap, down from ridge, back towards start, hold-up at new gate onto long narrow uphill path. Over foot-bridge to long downhill, steep uphill, back to start for repeat of first bit. Good spread of cakes at finish. |

Usual 2 laps with muddy bits but last muddy hill replaced with long run up concrete track - ugh! Taped knee OK (but still slow). Lots of NFR: 9 ladies, 21 gents. Cakes at finish, plus warm drinks. |

Planned to walk most of it as muscles around left hip still too painful to run (except on steep downhills!). Very scenic route, steep hills, views over Chesil beach. Met Phil at start (Claire and girls shopping in Weymouth). A few other NFR there; pleased not to be last (generous cut-off time 4.5 hours). Free tea and cake at finish (donation to scouts). Re-hydration at White Horse Inn (no food - only carvery). |

Good value £13. Mostly on hard tracks round Lulworth estate - cushioned road shoes needed. Still in walk/jog recovery mode, but managed less walking than expected. Hip area OK but got lower back muscle spasms at half-way (despite usual taping). Well organised, extra half-hour wait for results (blamed on manual processing). Alec waiting for his beer, back to '7 Stars' pub for favourite seafood-tagliatelle lunch. |

| Weather: | Very hot,sunny. Not much breeze. |
| Comments: | Very hard run, classed as category BM fell-race.
Walked a lot but enjoyed the downhill bits. A lot slower than last time. Several other NFRs. Included vet 70 category this year. Post-race refreshment at 5 Bells (Whitchurch Canonicorum) - good local cider. |

Extra 'bonus' mile this year - followed whole of half-marathon loop. Walked up 3 main hills on coast path, and most other hills too. 4 other NFR doing half-marathon (2 laps). Rehydration at 5 Bells (Whitchurch Canonicorum) again for the 'First Press' local cider. Food service very slow. |

| Comments: | Alec took me there, long way round via Wareham/Corfe castle. Race start 10:30, tide still quite high.
Same course as last year. Crowded start on beach, ok with chip timing. Started at front of 3rd 'wave', so no queues up zig-zag. Long hill up from beach, then undulating over heath; lots of puddles, but rain helped make soft sandy dunes more runnable. Taping on back and remembered to run 'upright' so less back-ache. Better run than last year, despite strong headwind for last 2k back on beach. Not many NFR there. Soap 'medal' and large white(!) bath towel in goody bag Home via Wareham but only got drink (good cider) at Kings Arms in Stoborough as fully booked for lunches. | ||||||

Phil ran too (but no family support). Several NFR runners there. Start in field - hook-start, causing hold up before line, but ok with chip timing. Then very crowded up Stickle path, stuck behind slow walkers. Same course as previous years: managed to run up at least some of each hill. Well marked and marshalled; 25th anniversary Tshirt this year, but no medals. Pleased to get under 2 hours. Lunch at Fiddleford Inn - nice soup but had to sit outside as whole pub booked for large party, loads of cars arrived just after us. | |||

Course is now all on gravel tracks in enclosures - not my thing. Long downhill start, 2 very undulating loops, then back up the long hill. Only 3 NFR ladies (clash with Xmas pud 10k) so we were the team! Santa-marshals, carols en-route on tuba. Lots of cakes. |
